10:53AM - Spring Cleaning Fest!
Alright, here is the gig. This weekend, all weekend long is a cleaning fest. A great way to start out the awesome summer that we are going to have. We already have LuvLuvFest2004 in the making. But from Friday through Sunday it will be a fest of cleaning, eating, and drinking! Throughout the years my house has collected much of other peoples junk, plus we have created much of our own too, and throughout the 3.5 years the house hasn't seen much upkeep/maintenence that it should. This is an opportunity to get a fresh new start on things! Plus many victory beers will be shared.
There are a few things though. First off, I have not confirmed this yet, but I was talking with someone today, and they were saying that to drop off trash at the garbage facility it would be about $100, wither or not it was a truck full, or a car full. I will confirm this today though. If so that is fucking rediculous, we may have to improvise and make use of several of the "disposal" units throughout Charleston ;). Also, I need a list of things that we will need. Cleaning supplies and such. I really do not know much about cleaning :P. Just the misc stuff we will need.
All can come out and enjoy this, it will be a good time! I promise, with our gang there, how could it not be ;). Though it is only "the gang" in this community, hopefully the word will get out.
9:33AM - Celebration
I've been looking for information about this years EIU Celebration and can't find anything. The DEN's website was no help and the celebration website hasn't been updated since last year. From what I understand it is on April 30th May 1st and 2nd, but I am not even sure about that.
I enjoy walking around and checking out the crafts everyone is hawking. For some reason celebration has a more comfortable feeling than other fairs/festivals.

9:31AM - Charleston Business
I had a conversation with a friend the other day about the shape that Lincoln Ave Business is in these days. It seems like every other building is empty. Off the top of my head, there is the old Wal-Mart building, Hardees(SP), Long John Silvers, The KFC/How Y'all Are building, and C&M. Then there are the two empty lots where the gas station and video store used to be by Morton Park. The Marathon (I think) at the west end of town just closed. The Ink Spot guy is closing down. Harrisons has been closing for years I have no idea if they are still open.
Yet at the same time enrollment is up at Eastern, next semester will see an extra 200 students, apartment buildings are poping up like weeds. You would think that there would be enough consumers, even if they are seasonal to support any business's that would look at opening on Lincoln, yet the buildings still sit there empty.
BTW the University Union got a liquor license, sweet.

12:40PM - First Post...
I just set up this community so I will go ahead and throw out a post. X-Krush a semi-local band has some upcoming shows. April 17th they will be playing at Trotter's Friendly Inn in Ashmore at 9pm and on April 30th they are back at Sneaky Pete's in Effingham. If you haven't seen them before you should, they do mostly covers but are pretty damn good.
Also on April 30th Bottle of Justus will be playing at Friends and Co. in Charleston. two of the members, Frontman Chris and Guitarist Joe are Chucktowners and the band rocks.
